Explore fascinating topics and continue a lifetime of learning
Canterbury University is a program of educational programs developed and led by Canterbury Woods’ residents.
Back when Canterbury Woods first opened its doors, a vibrant group of residents began to meet weekly to discuss advances they’d read about in Scientific American magazine. From this simple gathering of friends and neighbors, Canterbury University, our community’s on-campus continuing education resource, was born.
As interest in lifelong learning has increased among seniors, Canterbury University expanded by purchasing a library of additional courses on videotape and DVD. In addition, residents began to give lectures and teach classes in their own areas of academic expertise.
Today, most people realize that participating in continuing education is a great way to keep their minds sharp. To open this opportunity to as many residents as possible, Canterbury University offers an ongoing schedule of courses on a wide variety of topics, including history, music, literature, art and more. Here’s a small sampling of the courses offered through this stimulating program:
Philosophy
The Old Testament
The Middle East
